Congratulations to Every Volunteer and Every Person that has contributed to Kootenai Pets for Life in 2017. At the Chamber of Commerce Banquet KPFL was awarded Non-Profit of the Year
Pictured above are some of the hard working volunteers taking a little time off to celebrate!!
We would like to construct a small area behind the shelter where the general public would not go receive animals that have been traumatized before they arrive. They may have been abandoned on a country road and left to fend for themselves. They may have had a long time human taking care of them who has died and they don’t understand what happened to that person. Oftentimes they are very young mothers with their first litter and they have no idea what to do. Each animal would have a small area – larger than a cage – where they would live privately until they healed from their trauma.
We are asking you to help us build this area. A small donation from many people would get us to our goal. If you would like to help, please send whatever you can afford to KPFL at P.O. Box 1454, Libby, MT 59923 or visit the Go Fund Me page.
We have a wonderful shelter but it could be made better to help these animals adapt to their new life so they can heal. Currently they are held in cages in the front part of the building.
Spay & Neuter - We began our spay/neuter program in 2002. At the end of 2016 we had facilitated the spay/neuter of 7,464 pets.
KOOTENAI PETS FOR LIFE ENCOURAGES EVERYONE TO TAKE THEIR PETS TO THEIR VETERINARIAN AND HAVE THEM SPAYED OR NEUTERED AND TO KEEP THE VACCINATIONS UP TO DATE.
If you are unable to do this, KPFL, with some financial assistance from the County is actively offering a spay/neuter program. If you need help to spay or neuter your pet call 293-kpfl(5735).
Ferel Cat Program - We have a feral cat program that has been funded by a Sands Foundation grant. An appointment can be made to bring in a feral cat for spay or neuter and vaccinations. The cat's ear will be clipped and the cat will be released back to the same area. Since 2011 through this program we have spayed or neutered over 288 cats. For more details on this program call 293-4936

The charge is $15 if you have a pet that was adopted from KPFL at an earlier date. For $35 anyone with a pet can make an appointment and bring their pet in for microchipping. If you are adopting a pet from KPFL it will have already been microchipped.
Come out and visit the Shelter and see all the pets available. We are always happy to have visitors as well as new volunteers to help us clean up yards and the Shelter for the coming summer.
The Shelter is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. We will be closed to visitors on Thursdays. Sunday the Shelter is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Call for an appointment if our regular hours don't work. 406-293-kpfl(5735)
